Our History

North Jacklin first started operating as an Austin Morris franchise for 1½ years before acquiring the Datsun franchise for Mackay and District. On 2nd January 1963 business commenced with the introduction of the Nissan franchise at the Corner of Wood & Gordon Streets.

Many years passed and in 1996 the Chrysler Jeep franchise was introduced and is still part of North Jacklin's portfolio today.

The 18th October 1999 marked the retirement of North and Judy Jacklin after some 39 years of servicing Mackay and District. The business was sold with the existing 44 employees being retained.

North Jacklin expanded in September 2001 with the introduction of a second Used Vehicle outlet in Milton Street enabling the acquisition of the Jayco caravan franchise. After the redevelopment of the Milton Street yard in August 2005 the caravans were relocated onto the adjoining block and the used vehicle yard at Gordon Street yard was closed and stock amalgamated into the Milton Street premises.

On 2nd July 2005 the Dealership committed to its biggest move yet by relocating New Vehicle Sales, Spare Parts, Service and Administration into a new purpose built facility at 49 Gordon Street, where they are still located today.  With all departments under the one roof, the extra space provided us with the opportunity to expand the new vehicle area of the business with the inclusion of the Subaru franchise.

On 24th August 2007, we doubled the size of the business after acquiring a competitor yard, known then as the "Honeycombes" franchise.  This acquisition brought with it several exciting franchises such as Suzuki, Kia and Land Rover and also a used car yard and Caravan yard.  The new location is now called "North Jacklin Riverside" and is located at Kay Court,North Mackay.  The Chrysler Jeep franchise was transferred over to "Riverside" and all service & parts for the Riverside franchises were then directed to the service department on 49 Gordon Street, now known as "North Jacklin City".

The move was not complete however! In July 2008 North Jacklin moved the Jayco caravan yard over to Riverside, doubling the stock holdings and thus becoming Mackay's largest range of new & used caravans.

North Jacklin Riverside continues to expand their portfolio.  Isuzu UTE was introduced late 2008 with Volkswagen arriving not to far behind.
