North Jacklin proudly sponsored the Gum Valley Desert Racing Team who made it their mission to conquer the Finke Desert Race this year.
Keenan Jansen, Regan Jansen, Matt Dumigan, Brad Luff, Col Mackenzie and Jason Woodley set their sites high when they entered the dirt biking race that starts at Alice Springs and heads south along the old Ghan Railway track to the town of Finke.
Their support crew followed the Racing team in Nissan Navara's that towed their Jayco Base Stations to Finke where they camped overnight before tackling the second leg of the race, back to Alice Springs on the following day.
The Gum Valley Desert Racing Team had one common goal - to get all the team across the finish line. After Col Mackenzie came off his bike at 80km, you would think that this goal was most certainly lost...
But a broken ankle wasn't going to stop Col and he amazingly got back on his bike and continued with 140km's to go!
Col managed to finish in 72nd place, just in front of Brad Luff who finished 73rd and was no doubt keeping an eye out for his buddy.
And so their goal was achieved with all team members crossing the finish line. Congratulations boys on a this fantastic achievement!
